Onam Special Payasam | Moong Dal Payasam

Ingredients

Moong Dal - 1/2 cup
Water - 2 cups + 1/2 cup
Cashews & Raisins
Jaggery - 3/4 - 1 cup 
Ghee - 2 tsp
Elaichi powder - 1/4 tsp 

Method

1. In a pan, dry roast moong dal for 5 minutes on slow flame 
2 .Let the dal cool then Rinse it with water & transfer to a pressure cooker 
3. Add 2 cups water & pressure cook ( 4 -5 whistles) on medium flame 
4. In another pan roast cashews & raisins by adding ghee
5. Once roasted, keep them aside 
6 . In a pan add Jaggery & water 
7. Stir till jaggery melts, on medium flame 
8. Keep it aside once jaggery has melted 
9. After 4- 5  whistles, cool the pressure cooker and open the pressure cooker carefully and add jaggery water using sieve
10. Cook on medium flame till it becomes thick and creamy 
11. Add roasted cashews& raisins and elaichi powder 
12. Delicious Payasam is ready to serve
